Cute Bananas: Redux

A revision of Cute Bananas. This one features a much more individualized style than the original.

I finally finished the '2.5 dimension' cloud model that I have been working on for a couple of weeks now.

I've been doing a lot of research on cloud drawing methods (yes, research, ), but I'm rather happy with this method as it adds a new twist, albeit subtle, to the very generic and widely used circle mesh clouds that I had in the original version (search for 'vector clouds' on dA and you'll see what I mean).

While they still aren't quite perfect, I am satisfied at the moment; and will continue to use and enhance them as I continue to illustrate.

The grass was especially painful as it features two layers. The foreground is manipulated Illustrator symbol stock, while the background is a series of grass symbols that I created myself.

The annoying part was breaking each blade apart from the symbol in the second layer, and modifying them so they didn't look so obviously identical. I'm sure that there is a quicker (and less resource intensive) way to do this, but the sweat and tears paid off.

I learned a lot more about Illustrator with this revision, but I really wish that it had a 'distort perspective' feature like Photoshop (or if it does, I can't find it).
